Kells is located in the heart of the Boyne Valley region, known worldwide as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The town itself has a monastic heritage dating back to the 9th century, the area is steeped in history with its most famous treasure “The Book of Kells”, created by the community of St.Columba. The oldest surviving structure in the town is in fact the charming stone church with its steeply pointed stone roof known as St. Columba’s house.
